When will a new version be released?

One never knows :-)! 
But, as it seems now, there won't be any new releases soon! :-( 

          There is a slight possibility for this product to be released under PD, but... 
 

 

ABCTextPad and "Treo" device?

You can use “ABCTextPad” on any “Palm” compatible device. It is actually slightly more useful on a device with built-in keyboard like Treos are, because of some special functions that are assigned to some of the keys.

 

 

What happened to ABCTreo and ABCNotes app?

"ABCTreo" and "ABCNotes are discontinued. The whole ABC Textpack Suite is streamlined to only one product:  ABCTextPad. 

All previously available features will be implemented in AbcTextPad app. That means you will be able to use ABCTextPad instead of ABCNotes or ABCTreo.

Anyhow, there are actually more non-Treo users of ABCTreo app :).

Does ABCTextPad work through the Palm Desktop for input, or does all the input have to go through the Palm itself?

ABCTextPad is primarily designed for text input and handling through the Palm itself. AbcTextPad 2.xx can operate on MemoPad database (memos) and that means you can use Palm Desktop for input. (Note that Classic Palm Desktop app supports Memos of up to 4K size only, while ABCTextPad can handle texts of up to 28K)

One can enter texts (using MS NotePad or MS Word or...) directly to the VFS card and than such texts can be seamlessly used by ABCTextPad using “Open from VFS” or “Reload” menu options.

Some VFS hints: VFS card can be inserted in a card-reader slot or an add-on card-reader device on the desktop computer. Alternatively, the Palm device can be cable-connected to a desktop computer using the appropriate software that maps your VFS card as an external drive. There are several software solutions available that provide this or similar functionality like: “FilePC2PDA” (possibly coupled with Windows “TotalCommander” app), “Card Export” app and the others...

 

Is it possible to install and run ABCTextPad from an SD card?

Yes, either natively (in \Palm\Launcher folder) w. textpads (databases) residing in RAM, or using SD launchers like PowerRun which will transfer program and data files back and forth as needed...

 

...but it's a sort of app that is likely to be used very often and preferably be quick-started by a dedicated hard-button press, therefore, it's recommended to keep it in RAM (it's only abt 150Kb in size).

 

Can I convert the old registration key to a new shareware version?

Yes, contact us and we will send you a new key free of charge.
